Astra 2000P Scanner and Win2K Pro

I just got a new Dell Inspiron 8000 laptop and tried to install my Astra 2000P Parallel Port scanner. It is not recognized by the system. I checked the Umax website for new drivers, but they don't mention Win 2000 as compatible with this model. They also don't mention that it isn't compatible.

Has anyone successfully connected this type of scanner in Win 2K? I can't afford to buy another scanner right now so I'm hoping someone out there has found a solution.
