Hi everyone...

I'm a MITEL guy and I'd would like to know up to you what are the main differences between the two systems and why would you prefer ASTERISK's

Regards

Now, it's about French users too !!!

It depends on which Mitel version you are comparing * to. The 200ICP has no sip trunking which can be a major difference between the two. Sip trunking can be a big savings. The 200ICP also uses Minet phones as opposed to SIP phones which generally are more cost effective.

I have used Asterisk and Mitel 3300 extensively. I would say that one of the biggest differences is in cost. Especially when adding licenses for additional functionality on the Mitel such as YourAssistant and other software elements.

In additional I found the Mitel unnecessarily complicated to configure and manage and in some respects very inflexible.

In Asterisk there is always a way to produce the desired functions and there are some very good GUI management tools around these days for it.

This is not a criticism specifically of Mitel as all traditional manufacturers seem to fall into the same over complicated configuration mechanisms (I am also used to Ericsson MD-110).

With Asterisk you cna get directly into it and "program" exactly what you want. Most of the time I have found this to be unnecessary but it is there is needed.

There are also many add-ons available which make for a highly flexible system. You are not tied to specific hardware or software for anything.

I have never found Asterisk to be less reliable than a proprietary system.

There is lots more of course but the post might get very long.

We are looking at Asterisk for conferance calling for call center agents working from home on Avaya IP agent6 software.
Would it be possible for our agents to run both IP agent and Asterick at the same time for conferances ?
