association problem

I have LW34, when setting up 2 phones under the association setting so 1 will hotline the other, I get "directory number cannot have the given association"
when going to save the settings, both phones are 4025 phones on the same switch it is seto to Hot line, the Edocs didn't say much any thoughts out there ?

what are you trying to achieve? associated directory number is used to program a set to dial a given number as soon as the handset goes off hook. Examples with numbers would help.

I kind of feel like Homer Simpson going back and reading this, but here is a clarification, station 22222, (a 4025 set) wants to autodial/Hotline to 33333 ( which is also a 4025) (we have 5 digit dialing) (also 33333 to 22222) looking back at the associations I have right now they are all ons ports . . .so I suspect associate is just for ons to ons, or ons to 4001 set, if that is the case, lets say I have two 4025's what would I do if I wanted the prime line of one to call the prime line of another ?

The easiest way:

You can put line appearances of each set on the other so you can answer a call from either set.

And you can call each other by pressing this button too.

Ok so lets say 22222 is a 4025 and has been defaulted i.e can't dial out, COS/COR1, and I have 33333 which is a 4001, which has a normal COS/COR I put the 4001 as a BLF on the 4025, the 4001 can go off hook and dial 22222 it ring the phone, I go off hook on 33333, I would have to know to press that particular button, and it would ring 22222 . . . I will have to try this, and see if it works out, thanks, I was thinking there was some way of doing it with multiline sets,

I would like to thank YnotPhone, I tried it as described in my Posting and it worked, I use the BLF functionality in other instance just not the DSS functionality
