Association between unix and plsql

Why recruiters say unix is must with PLSQL knowledge ? what is the association between unix and PL/SQL in IT world??

Most of the Oracle shops are on one of the Unix versions out there. very few are on Windows machines hence the need for Unix

There is no relatiionship between Unix and PL/SQL, per se. The company's "requirement" for that combination is strictly a company requirement. I have been an Oracle DBA since 1988 (working for Oracle Corporation for the first10 of those years), and my knowledge of Unix is still at the "subsistence" level.

The company may be referring to existing (and/or planned) internal IT processes which call Oracle from the unix environment, probably via the Oracle SQL*Plus utility to run PL/SQL, then redirect the output to other processes.
