Assigned Recurring Tasks in MS Outlook

I have been investigating and conducting some tests on a user problem where he was not getting regular updates on assigned tasks (i.e. a task that he had assigned to a subordinate) even though the assignee was updating the task regularly. It turns out that all of the affected tasks were recurring tasks. Is this a Microsoft "feature" that changes made to assigned tasks which are recurring (e.g. weekly) are not reported back to the person who originally assigned them? It seems to work fine for non-recurring tasks. Can anyone confirm my suspicions?
