hi, is it possible to assign a button on a M7310 that will turn on/off the night service external ringer?

currently the system rings the external paging speaker all the time and it is starting to annoy the shop staff. :)

the phones all ring/dont ring they way we need, we would just like to be able to switch off the external ringer in the daytime.

thanks

How is external ringer hooked to system?
Is it hooked through the phone?
Is it hooked through Auxillary ringer port on system?
What Norstar system is it?

sorry should have said, did some investigating too...

its a 6x16 with an external Bogen PA amp. the ringer comes out as a pair to the PA amp from the keysys panel. at one time (I found out) what is now line 5 used to be set up as "night service" control. This is how reception switched over the ringer in the am.

Well, the Aux. Ringer pair is the violet/brown pair off the extension amphenol cable. Is the ringer attached to that or another pair?
You will need one of the programming overlays on your phone.

Go into programming Feature * * 266344, Password: 266344
A. Configuration - Next
B. General Admin. - Show
1. Sys speed dial - Next until you see
7. Service Modes - Show
Control sets - Show
Show line - dial in your first line number
Line 01: 221 - means that 221 is the person who will turn night services on for this line. Press change and enter the extension number you want to control the services. Do this for all lines you want effected by pressing NEXT.

Press the Header button
Show line: _
Header
Control Sets - Next
Name1:Night - Show
Setting: Manual - Next
Trunk answer: Y - Next
Extra -0 set: 221 - Next
Show line: - Dial in your first line number
Ringing Sets - meaning the extension you want to ring when this service is activated. Should be the ATA with your ringer on it or an extension in the shop area.
SHOW
Set: 221 - Press remove to remove the extension from the group. Again, your ATA extention with the ringer on it or an extension in the shop area should be assigned here!
NEXT
Aux.Ringer Y - meaning that you want the Aux. Ringer (if on the violet/brown pair) to ring when the service is activated.
NEXT
Show line: _ - Enter the next line... 02... continue to program each line you want effected.

Now go up to the control set and with the handset down in the cradle press Feature * #, then press the button you want to be the Night Service button, then dial Feature 871. This is now your on/off button for night services.

This should do it for you. Let me know if I've totally confused you.

thanks, that did it

I also found a ringer volume control on the back of the Bogen PA Amp accessed thru a hole in the case, so I set it to a better level too.

the shop staff thanks you too!!
