Hi, I was wondering if somebody could help me. I am having a problem with RAS clients being assigned a Subnet Mask of 255.255.255.255 as opposed to 255.255.255.0 from the RAS Server on a 10.0.1.x subnet.

This means that the RAS client can only ping the RAS Server and nothing else, thus cannot get access to the Exchange box. As a temperary measure I am having to use NETBEUI.

There must be a way of assigning the correct Submast Mask.

Can somebody help me, thanks!

1. Deinstall RAS
2. Apply SP4 or better
3. Install RAS
4. Apply SP4 or better
5. Configure RAS to use a IP address pool
- defined on the local machine (in RAS properties)
or
- install DHCP on the RAS server
6. in the properties of TCP/IP in your RAS config, enable the checkbox 'allow clients to ask for a predetermined IP address'
7. Restart again, and it should work perfectly
