New to the board. Used to go to ablecomm...sheesh, that place has been dead a while it seems.
I'm primarily a network/server guy, but I head a small 2 man tech shop for a digital media school. 500 students but just as many machines.
I support pretty much everything. If electricity flows through it, I support it.
We've had this system in place for a few years. A panasonic guru actually came in and setup the system and I've always relied on him as sort of a consultant. But he's no longer an option.
I've never really educated myself on the system, just found what I needed to figure out a problem when it arose and moved on.
We've always had only one service group. I've setup multiple menus for this group, but nothing beyond that.
I've never messed with our ports or trunks.
I now have a need to setup another service group and I have no idea how to do it.
As of right now we have ports 1-24 assigned to this service group (all of them)
I can see in the "port/trunk service" how to assign ports to service groups, but I have no idea how that communication happens between teh PBX and the VPS.
As in, how is a call routed to one port/service group or the other?
Situation: Call comes into to a DID that I have mapped to a specific extension. How do I route that call from teh PBX, over a specific port to the correct service group?
( I think I'm asking that correctly)
Thanks in advance for any help.
