I have a date and a time column in Excel (2003) and I want to assign a period from 1 to 10 depending on a date range and time cut off. Would I need to concatenate the date and time columns into one column? For example, period one would be 5/2/2006 12:00 thru 5/16/2006 12:00. Cut off date is noon.

Have trouble with dates.

thanks in advance!

You would need to set up a table for vlookup. 5/2/2006 12:00 would be start of Period 1, 2/15/2006 12:00 would be start of period 2 etc.

Then you need to use vlookup formula using TRUE as the Range look up value.
