I need to assign a DID (direct dial number) to a new extension. Does anyone know what forms to use and the intructions. Also how do I find out if I have any free DID not being used? [ponder]

if you know your DID range then type the following
LOC ALL FREE DN xxx to xxx (where xxx is the DID range)
this should give you a list of what is free (if any)

Next if there are any free you can either change a current number to match the DID create a new extn with the DID number or lastly create a speed call to match DID to extn number.

What forms would I use to tie the new DID to a new extension number?

Usually the DID digits and the Extension Digits match. In this case it is a simple matter of programming the extension to match the DID.

If in your case they do not match we need examples as there are several ways to modify the digits.

Give us an existing example of a DID number that is tied to an extension.

2 primary places to check.

Trunk Attributes - Digits to absorb and Digits to insert.
System speedcall table.

Thanks for the last post. With the System speedcall table I was able to figure it out.
