Hi guys. I've been desperately trying to learn ASM these days and I can't find any compiler that matches any tutorial and even when I do, I can never compile anything but I really wish to learn ASM. Could anyone please point me out to a good free Assembler and a good tutorial that both match for an Intel CPU ?

Thanks.

After having used several assemblers in the past, I've kind of settled on High Level Assembler. There is a tutorial and a book available - and yes, it is "real" assembly language but written by a college professor with the aim of teaching students.

Check out for the assembler and lots of links/tutorials/etc.

I think the best book to teach assembly is Irvine's Assembly Language For Intel-Based Computers

ISBN 0-13-091013-9. It is a little pricy, $80.00 4th edition, but it is worth every piney.
Used ones are available from Amazon for about $50.
Make sure you get the CD with it, if you buy it used, as it contains the Assemble (MASM) and Linker and much more.
