Hello

I'm testing ASR recovery method between a 7.2.1 server A and a 7.2.1 client B separated by a firewall. Unfortunatelly, ASR disk creation fails on the client B(during the restore of files to tmp directory). This problem does not occurs if I do the creation of the disk from the server A with directed recover.
Second problem linked : during the reinstall of W2K3 on the client B and the ASR process step, the disk generated from the server A is read, but the server seems to be not seen from the client for the data restore.
Does anyone know which ports to open on the firewall to enable ASR recovery ?
Thank you.

The needed ports for NetWorker are listed in the admin guide. I don´t think they are any different for ASR as they are for regular backups through the firewall? The information on the disk is gathered from the local client as far as i know. Perhaps some small peice of info might be needed from the server. Use the nsrports command on the client and server to list what portrange NetWorker will use, and make sure that portrange is open in both directions in the firewall. On NW7 you need only to open the Service ports range (default 7937-9936). You might need to set the TCP_KEEPALIVE_WAIT environment variable on the client/server to allow the session to remain open in the firewall, this goes for all NetWorker operations though firewalls. See admin guide for more info.

Hope it helps!

Cheers!
Maverick
