ASR recovery from other machine

Hi all,

reading some information about Microsoft Automated System Recovery (ASR), I've seen that can be possible to restore into similar machine.
(Source: Windows Server Hacks - O'reilly)

Do you have tested this ?

What are your experiences about ?

Does it exist a procedure to collect/export data generated by ASR to be backed up on disk subsystem or backup software ? I know that TSM and NetWorker can integrate ASR but I don't want to do that, at this moment.

I have tested restoring an ASR on similar hardware and it works fine.

can be possible to schedule/automate an ASR backup of different Windows Servers ?

I want to avoid manual operations for this.

The ASR is a combination of backup file and a floppy disk. The ASR needs to be done locally on the server as far as I am aware.

I've seend on Microsoft website that can be possible to do the ASR remotely:

but I haven't found information to schedule the ASR, for example, every month.

Any idea about ?

there is no switch for ASR, therefore I do not see how it could be scheduled automatically.
