I have received an error note that I have an old copy of the file "aspiatap". It stated that if I continue to run that file the computer will run much slower.

Is there a way to get an updated one of these files? Or is this a file I can delete from the config.sys?

I am running an 800;P111;128 Meg Ram;Browser is OPERA; eMail program is INTELLIMAIL.

Can anyone help me here?[ponder]

Thanks

Use System Restore to roll your computer back to a date to before when your computer worked right. Before the error(s) started occuring.

To start System Restore, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. Or, in the Help and Support main screen, click Use System Restore under Fix a problem.

Try removing it from your config.sys and see if the OS is smart enough to find the CD without it.
Dependign on your OS, you may not need anything in config or autoexec.
I think this is a DOS based driver from Adaptec for SCSI controllers or devices attached to them. Ed Fair

Styx,
System Restore can only be an option if bowker has used the algorithm fix from Microsoft. Up until Sept. 8/2001 System Restore worked on it's own, but after that there is a problem with the algorithm's setting the correct date.

So...

If the fix has not been applied System Restore will be completely useless.

bowker,
You will need to boot to DOS using a start-up disk when botting choose option-4 (minimal boot) and then when in dos type the following:
C:
SCANREG /RESTORE
then restore the registry to the date before the errors
then remove the floppy disk and restart

Then I would suggest you install the Microsoft fix. You can read more about this "BUG" and download the file at:

Hope this helps! NATE
