I am new to scripting with ASPECT, and I am already dreaming up lots of neat solutions using this tool.

I know that Symantec does not support PROCOMM with WinXP, I assume that this means that they are not going to continue it's development. Anyone know any different?

With the next generation OS always on the horizon, can ASPECT scripting be used "stand-alone" without PROCOMM?

Without Procomm, there is no ASPECT. I do know of people who have run version 4.8 on XP for ages (including myself) with no real issues. I can't think of anything I've encoutered that is a problem on XP that is not also a problem on Win2K. I also know a few people who seem to be running it fine on Win2K3 Server, so hopefully the transition to Vista will be just as smooth and uneventful.

I haven't had any real contact with Symantec since they ended their support forums well over a year OK, but I wouldn't count on another Procomm version unless they change their opinions about the demand. I'm sure they've lost sales in the past by not officially certifying it as XP-compliant, which wouldn't seem to take much effort as far as I know.

Not much chance of them releasing the source code either I suppose? It would be great if they did and it.
