Hello

I have a situation where I'd like to provide a "product catalogue" on a CDROM (containing 2000+ products). We would be developing from the basis of an asp/database driven website (yet to be designed) on which the products would be displayed dynamically from user specified search/browsing criteria.

So far our reserach has suggested that the only real way of doing this is to develop a static HTML site which could be put onto the CD rather than have asp pages generated from the product database. This would of course mean developing a large number of HTML pages for the CD and would provide additional headaches when any updates/amendements need to be done.

I would be very grateful to hear anyones thoughts or suggestions on how we would could include a dynamic database driven website on a CDROM. Many thanks in advance!

Hmmmm, that could be a problem. Web services and personal web servers etc etc. Try creating a flash .exe file which will be able to read an access database.

Just a thought.

Hi mate,

Not sure if this would be any use but you can check it out and decide for yourself.

I have not personally tried this.

Hope this helps Wullie

Hi,

Thanks to pixel69 for your suggestion of using flash; it was something which had been considered - but at the current time my flash skills are only at the beginner level...

Thanks for your link Wullie, we've had a look at that but actually uncovered another download (not free unfortuantely) at the same site:

which we have been looking at. So far looks fairly good, but we've had teething troubles with database connectivity. We're still at the 'feasibility stage' on this so I'll post up our progress as and when.

Cheers
Mike
