I can not for the life of me get an asp page to display. I've even copied samples, exactly as instructed in (Microsoft Press Web Database Development Step by Step) from the accompaning CD, and still can not get them to display. Html pages will display with no problem.

I spent the last 3 hours searching the net for a solution. I saw a LOT of people with the same problem, but no soultions.

I get the "page cannot be displayed" error. In the log it is giving the "500" error. Internal Server Error.

Anyone have a clue while I have hair left. Rob

Good suggestion, but I have done that. I restarted the IIS and rebooted the computer. It's driving me crazy. Rob

have you run the permission wizard and check server extentions tasks in IIS?

those may help.

I think I'm going to wipe my hard drive and reload everything. I right clicked on the computer name in IIS and properties and it gave me an error and shut down. I tried loading a snap-in for IIS in MMC and getting to the properties and got the same error and shut down again.

I've had this computer about 2 years without formatting and reloading. At home I usually do that about every 6 months. I think I'm going to wipe this one and start again.

Thanks.

your page has an error on it.
goto Tools->Internet Options->Advanced and towards the bottom of the "browsing" section there is a checkbox called "show friendly HTTP errors" make sure this is unchecked and refresh your page and you should see the actual asp error and not the 500 - Internal Server error page. [pipe]

i forgot to mention you would be going to the tools->blah blah in IE. [sadeyes]

I'll try that before I clean the HD and start all over. Thanks Discord.
