Running IIS 4.0. If I try to access a .asp file in a web, I am prompted for a password. I am not prompted for passwords for any of the html files in the folder. I have gone through the NTFS permissions and the Internet Guest user has the same permission (RX) to all files in the web. What could be causing this?

I assume when you say guest, you mean the iusr_machineName acct? Try the everyone person. If that fails, add the iusr_machineName to the administrators group, and see if it occurs. If the problem goes away, it is a permissions issue, if it continues, it is not permissions. Remove the admin group from the iusr_.... acct immediately. It could be that one of the dll's that the asp pages call ie asp.dll or asp.exe could have incorrect permissions. Anything that those pages touch ie stylesheets, dlls that call aother dll's etc have to have the correct permissions. Jonathan Galpin

It doesn't appear to be file permissions in the web. What should the permissions be on the asp.dll. They are currently at Administrators (Full), System (Full) and Server Operators (Change). I tried changing it to Everyone (Full) but that didn't work.
