I have created a VB component that instantiates and creates an excel spreadsheet with data from an oracle database. The component works in VB but when I try to access it via asp the component informs me that I need to install oracle client components.
Currently the PATH environmantal variable points to the oracle drivers on a network and the Oracle is accessed via these coomponents on a remote machine.
The dll containing the excel automation has been given security permission for everyone - I assume this includes IUSR_ .

Is there any reason why ASP may not recognise the oracle drivers?

Have you set up the required environment variables (and perhaps the TNS listener service in the winnt\system32\drivers\etc host file) on the WEB SERVER (where your component is registered and runs)?
