Hi,

I want to create a website with a MySQL DB at the back end. And I am being told that I'd be better off using PHP rather than ASP for this purpose. So far, I only know some ASP, but no PHP. Are there any advantages to using ASP instead of PHP for the website?

Thank you!

I have attempted php before, but Im sticking with ASP because its easier to pick up. PHP does have better peformace, and it can be used without difficulty on Windows and Linux.. Where as ASP you have to install ChiliSoft to use it on a non-win machine..

I like PHP and ASP. PHP is really fast to pick up and if I had a choice I would take PHP. PHP/MySQL combos have worked for many projects and installing phptriad will create a full developement enviroment that is free of any microsoft licence. And as mentionned beforehand you can use your php easily on many os's. Gary Haran
