Hi,

I have downloded Microsoft ASP.NET Premium Edition Beta 2 (19 MB) from microsoft.

I have some doubts On that.

Do i have to Install win-2000 to Install asp.net..?

If i install win-2000, then Should i have to use IIS?

If IIS then, what is the Version?

Do i need .net platform to run ASP.net?

If write a file in asp.net, where to save, and what is the extension?( Like Filename.asp...)

Kindly Provide these details, to cope with .net platform, for me to decide for my future projects on hand.

I've been mulling downloading the SDK also...but have been leery. I've tried playing with ASP.NET scripts and programming constructs, but they naturally won't load in PWS or Win2000 IIS 5.0 out of the box. I'm not one of the lucky few blessed with enough machines to be Franker-crashes, so I'm just sitting and reading everyone else's comments. I'd like to mess with it, though.

At first glace, one should know the following:
- mastery of HTML formatting of pages
- some experience with VB (more intensive than VBScript was/is for ASP 3.0)
- knowledge of XML

I do know that at this time for ASP.NET, MS highly recommends using the Beta2 release of Visual Studio.NET, or plain 'ol WordPad to write ASP.NET code in. ASP.NET pages at this time need to have the file extension ".ASPX"

Here's a good site for a primer:
