Hi all,

What is the difference between ASP.NET and ASP?
I was thinking of buying a book on ASP but the ones I saw were all for ASP.NET, will the information in these books still apply?

When looking for a host, if they provide ASP does that include ASP.NET or do I have to look for a host who states specifically ASP.NET?

Thanks

no and no
ASP and ASP.NET are different. if a host has ASP support is more then likely that they will have ASP.NET but some have not gotten that up and running as of yet. If you are going to start learning ASP then I would start with ASP.NET.

here is some referencing to differences

Thanks onpnt

I would like to start to learn ASP.NET but can't really afford Visual Studio.NET. I have a copy of Visual Studio 6 so I'll learn ASP.

Thanks again.

I use VS.Net but I hear this FREE ide is excellent.

You may want to start watching the ASP.Net forum too.

Have you been to It is a Microsoft site dedicated to .Net. It has many nice tutorials and most of them come in C# and VB.Net.

I have recently started developing in .Net and love it. Almost all of our new development is going to be in .Net and C#.

Thanks,

Gabe
