I am new to ASP.Net. We are tring to build a ecommerce site soon. I would like to have your opinion on choosing which direction we should go for -- ASP or ASP.Net.

And If we go for ASP.Net, what skill set do we need to implement it? Is there any good book or site we can look at?

Thank you ahead for your advice!

My opinion (from up here on the bandwagon) is to go with .Net. I think that some of the improvements in efficiency and speed are definetly worth the trouble. As far as a skill set goes, What are your people using right now? What are they comfortable with. If you have alot of C++ programers go with the C# language. If you have a lot of VB guys go with VB.NEt.
It all ends up the same with the CLR anyway so language doesn't make a difference.
Any book by Wrox is good, just get a ASP.NET book that uses the language you wish to implement.

Hope this helps. That'l do donkey, that'l do
