asp.net and netscape question

I'm using asp.net on our intranet which has to be netscape 4.X compatible (don't ask) - the app runs very quickly on IE but very slowly on netscape - any advice on why this is would be appreciated.

Because ASP.NET targets that browser, and has to render different HTML. Call me crazy, but when it comes to the NS features, I would be willing to bet that MS didn't spend much time at all trying to make it fast.

And who would blame them? It's such a terrible product. It was great in its day, but that day has long past.
