asp file access on nt4 server

I've rebuilt our webserver (NT 4 Server sp6a, FrontPage 98 extensions, IIS 4) and am having file access problems within scripts.
the following line
set reportTypeFile(invoices)=ts.OpenTextFile("c:\inetpub\wwwroot\intapps\reports\ReportData\invoices",8,True)

only works when the file doesn't already exist. At the moment the default internet account has full access to the folder in question.

Looks like you have forgotten the extension of the file, .txt

set reportTypeFile(invoices)=ts.OpenTextFile("c:\inetpub\wwwroot\intapps\reports\ReportData\invoices.txt",8,True)

Thanks but the files in question don't have the .txt extension. The names are as above.
