I dont know if this question should be in this thread so sorry if it isnt:
I downloaded somebody's asp script which worked fine on win98 PWS but when I got it home and tried to put it on my NT4 server - Option Pack 4, service pack 6a it comes up with the following error:

ADODB.Connection error '800a0e7a'

ADO could not find the specified provider.

/test/signin.asp, line 14

Does anybody have any idea why this happened? or more importantly how to fix it?

Michael

make sure, your NT server had ADO installed and is same version as on win98.
2nd, also make sure driver(s) is also installed for your database.

How exactly can I check whether the 'ADO' section is installed and how can I install it if its not?

Michael

Hi.

You can check it if you see the settings/control panel/ODBC Data Sources. There you can find the drivers which are installed on your server. Why don't you try to connect to your database via ODBC?

regards, Kirilla

check \Program Files\Common Files\SYSTEM\ADO, you should have approximate of 10-11 .dll files including msado10.dll and msado15.dll

I managed to get a hold of some proper drivers and get it all happening. Added the database part etc in the ODBC Data Source and it all points to the right stuff. Now I am getting a different error:

Microsoft OLE DB Provider for ODBC Drivers error '80004005'

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

/test/signin.asp, line 15

Any ideas on this one?
