asp code doesnt work

I have XP Pro. I installed IIS, and when my defaut.asp page has no actual asp code, the page displays correcttly when

http://localhost

is tiped on the adress bar.

If the page is .html, it displays ok also.

But when there is actual asp code, the page loads forever. When I stop and reload, I get a too many users trying to connect.

Restarting the server doesnt help. If I restart it, and try to reload, I get again "too many users error".

Reinstalling the IIS didn't help eather. I'm preaty sure at some point (a very long time ago) I changed somehting in the IIS, but now I don't know what, and can't get the IIS to it's original configuration.
