I have created a virtual server and created a new catalog in index server manager (called test) this index points at the virtual server (from properties menu on test catalog, web). the service has been started and stopped, when i look to see what is in the directory list there are directories that aren't even in the virtual server. why are these appearing here, am i doing something wrong. how do i make the directories i want to index and only the directories that i want to index from this virtual server directory show up????

You might want to try a SQL code listing like this:

CompSearch = SearchString & " and not #vpath *\|(search|,_|,asp|,Developers|,images|"

This is taken out of our search engine to deny searching these particular directories.

I'm not sure that will work with a virtual situation but it's worth a try. I'd be curious to know if it works.
