I have (3)sites with (14) ASMs each,,,,the power supply is the weak link and rather frequently I have to replace defective units with power supply issues.
My in-state (FL) supplier was repairing them, but now no longer.
Do you know of any Nortel sites, preferrably in FL?
Do you know what is the usual culprit/problem in the power supply is? I can try to fix/repair myself.
Thx

I haven't had a need to repair the ASM units but I have diagnosed and replaced many out in the field, and at a previous job my role was repairing defective telecom equipment.

The clicking sound they make when failing suggests to me they're suffering from the usual switched mode power supply issues when the capacitors are no longer performing within spec.

I would try opening a failed one up, taking note of the values of each electrolytic capacitor within the power supply and ordering a set from a site like DigiKey or Mouser. If you're handy with a soldering iron, it shouldn't take very long to replace them all and test the unit. Very high chances it'll function just fine after.
