I sent a Quark 4.0 file to a printer to have my clients business card printed. The printer cannot open my file...they get an error saying..."need Quark Passport" to open file. But...I never created the file in Passport - I created it in the regular version 4.0. Why is the printer getting the passport error??? I don't even have Passport.

We get that message some times - -try resending your Quark file -- if you did not send it compressed, send it as a .sit or zip file in a folder. This happens to us when a client sends the Quark file loose by dragging the Quark file as a attachment.

Another sugstion tell your printer to put a .qxd extension at the end of the file name and try opening the file using file> open.

You can also - use res edit - -but it would be a long email to explain that procedure.

Hope this helps

Another thing I forgot to mention take the file and if you have a Stuffit Expander drag your Quark file and drop it on expander - this helps sometimes also.
