asking for blank tape

Hello,

I'm using Arcserve 2000 7.0 with sp5 installed
when I create a backup job and run the backup job.
arcserve says "please insert blank device"

I've configured arcserve for the first backup media to
overwrite same media name, or blank media first, then any media.

when I erase the media using Erase plus.

the popup message doesn't come, and arcserve just backups the server.

anyone a idea?

It might be worth looking in Device Manager to see if Arcserve recognises the tape format.

I have had situations where Device Manager shows 'Unrecognizable Media Format' and the backup will not pick up the tape until it has been manually formatted.

the job wants either a blank tape (and so should be erased) or a tape that it had used before, such as the previous week. depends on the way the job was setup
