Hi

I'm using Word 2002 and creating a Project template. I have used ask and ref fields for the information to be entered and they work fine, however, when i try to record a macro that prompts for the ask fields, i cannot stop recording until they filled out - which obviously is useless because this will change with each document created from the template as well as after a new document is created as 2 fields (Version and revision no. must be updated each time the document is edited). Can anyone help?

I've also written a macro to automatically prompt to save as when the document is opened, however i cannot seem to get it to run when a document is created from the template. I do not want this to be assigned to a toolbar. Any suggestions?

thanks in advance

Nikki

On your first question, go ahead and record the macro with data in it (dummy data like dddddd is fine), then stop recording, and edit the macro. You could remove the dummy data and code in a message box to prompt for the desired information. You'll also need to delete the dummy data from the template before you save it.
