getting this error after upgrading Arcserve 2000 from SP3 to SP5.

asgmr.exe - application error

The application failed to initialize properly (0x0000006). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Probably the quickest solutions will be reinstall the sw.

If your backup includes system state, there is a bug with SP5 that causes the error that you are getting.

There is a fix available on the CA website - qo52950.caz.
