so how to able run ASDM.

I'm thinking that you need to update your OS to something more recent than 6.1(4) to use ASDM. PDM is more than likely what you're looking at using for an OS this old. Either that or get down and dirty with the CLI.

haniis,
You need the PDM version 4.1 to work with Pix ver 6.1(4). Whenever you upgrade the Pix version, you also have to upgrade the PDM version.

Unclerico is correct, you need Pix version 7.0 or higher to use ASDM.

However, I have found PDM & ASDM to be equally easy to use.

thanks,
But from where can I get Pix version 7.0 for free . I don't have a contract with local cisco partner

Unfortunately you can't. You're going to need to contact Cisco to see if you can get SmartNet on your PIX, which at this point I doubt it since it is EOL.
