Ascii translation

Does the word document have ascii characters in it? If so what is an ascii character and the number mean? For example what would the number be for an apostrope?

If I have a web page and I copy a word doucment onto the web page form sometimes it gives me weird characters for the apostrope so I was wondering if it was a Ascii translation problem??

Hi oaklandar,

If you are getting 'odd' results, you probably haven't got apostrophes. If you have the 'smart quotes' option set (under Tools > AutoCorrect) you may well have left and right single quotes (ASCII 145 and 146 respectively, if it matters).

Tony, isn't ascii limited to 128 characters (7bits)?
Aren't the 145 and 146 ANSI characters ?
I guess oaklandar have a CodePage problem.
