ASCII? Pages printing blank 1

I have the following characters at the beginning of my ASCII file that seem to cause the pages to print blank:

^[E^[%0A^[(s13H^[&l1O

Does anyone know what the characters are used for.

The issue was that this is PCL code which tells the printer that it wants to print landscape. We have to replace the printer because it does not handle PCL code. Was I posting this in the wrong forum?

Not necessarily, but clearly no-one was sure of the answer. In which case, the very fact that you bothered to post back with your solution merits a star - so there you go!

I want to be good, is that not enough?
