Ascii into MySQL

I'm trying to find a way of receiving an 'ascii file' and transferring this automatically into an MySQL database, in order to form the basis for a web reporting webpage.

Can this be done and if so how?

If you have a delimited text file, it can be imported into a MySQL table using a LOAD DATA command, described at

http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/load-data.html

You may want to create a perl (or choose a language) program to update the table(s). To be automated, it'll need scheduled anyway.
