I just noticed that Avaya have released version 10.1 of ASBCE, skipping from version 8.1.3.0 to 10.1.0.0. I can't seem to load the release notes (or any support doc for that matter), has anyone got any details on this release?

Just checked. Looks like the download links are broken for support docs at the moment.

I've applied this to our Lab system and here is what they have to say about it, it doesn't seem to explain why the massive version number jump though:

New in Avaya SBCE Release 10.1.0

Automatic blacklisting of network source IP

Automatic blacklisting of network source IP is a safety feature that filters out illegitimate or invalid IP addresses from accessing your networks. The system maintains a list of IP addresses and URIs that do not meet the set policies. The list contains blocked IP/URIs and the IPs subnets that must be blocked. Blacklisting of an IP/URI is based on two policies:
[ul]
[li]If the number of attempts to log in using invalid username or password, and the number of failed attempts exceeds the configured threshold value.[/li]
[li]If the attack is from trusted source and the number of attempts exceeds the configured threshold value. In this case SBC considers To header URI to validate the invalid username or password.[/li]
[/ul]

After the system exceeds the configured threshold values, it generates a report with parameters like, entry to DB with block time, raise incidence, and syslog. It can also propagate the information to other SBCs in given EMS. The system maintains blacklisted source IP/URI with latest timestamp in IP/URI blocklist section. Use this section to unblock an IP/URI, block an IP subnet and permanently block an IP/URI.

New Hardware Platform Support of Dell 3240 Compact for Mid and Small Size Deployment

Dell 3240 is a new hardware platform in addition to Portwell servers (CAD 230 and CAF 215) in release 10.1. Dell 3240 supports only UEFI based boot system. The installation instructions for this is different from CAD 0230 and CAF.

Except CAD and CAF all other current platforms supports UEFI based boot mechanism. So, all the hardware instruction must be updated to use only UEFI boot mechanism to install 10.1 release.

UEFI boot

All fresh installs will support UEFI in this release. 8.x is based on Legacy boot. You can upgrade using legacy boot option. The boot mode must match the operating system installation.

Changing boot order

Changing boot mode for Dell Servers ( R630, R640, ASP3 or ASP5). To change the boot order you must boot from a USB key or an optical drive. By default Dell 3240 platform supports UEFI.

All Aura-related applications went from 8.1 to 10.1 in early December.

Ah that makes sense! Cheers
