So I bought an ASAX to make use of policy based routing - not got that far yet as i'm having a headache trying to get the kit to work reliability with the bare basics
1) setup outside interface x.x.2.174 255.255.255.240
2) setup inside interface x.x.1.254 255.255.255.240
3) created some static routes to permit inside stuff out and outside in etc etc
4) created some icmp rules to do basic connection tests
5) pinging works which is great for a time but then out of nowhere - bang it starts dropping packets for a good amount of time.
so far i have checked
1) the outside host is always reachable during these losses - it is
2) the inside asa gateway is available the whole time - it is
3) the duplex and speeds match - I have tried auto and fixed at varying speeds - had no effect of the issue
4) the firewall itself is able to reach both inside and outside addresses from itself during these outages
I'm really stumped by this one, I keep thinking there is something on the new ASA X that needs setting which I don't know about. ?
help ?
