ASA5520 password recovery/reset 4

I have inherited a network where the previous admin was fired.
He is non communicative and will not give us the passwords for the ASA5520 or the Cisco 3800 series router.

How can I recover the passwords without resetting the devices and loosing the configs. We have 5 locations connected with cisco routers across the country, and I do not want to have to rebuild all routers.

The below link should be of help.I know for sure that you can recover from the 3800 without loosing the conf,I have never done it on an ASA but from the link it looks like you can save your conf.

You will have to reboot the devices and be on site to do the password recovery.

The 3800 will be pretty easy, you are just changing the config reg from 0x2102 to 0x2142 to bypass NVRAM during the boot up sequence.
