ASA version 8.3 and Older Clients

We have an ASA 5510 running version 8.3

Remote client access works when using a newer vpn client like 5.5.07.0290.
When you try to use an older version 4.6.02.011 it will not work and request the group password.

Does anyone know anything about a problem with this old client version and 8.3?
