Is it possible - Can someone please help me with the steps to connect to a remote system using ASA and a CLAN card. The remote G3 has version 8 on it and Im not sure if it can be done.

You have to be at V9 to use a C-LAN board to telnet into the switch. Prior to V9 the C-LAN was used for adjunct connectivity and in V8 IP telephony.

Not True...

Ip connectivity was introduced into release 7 but that was a bad load and it was not very sucessfull. Release 8 is fine and this works without trouble.

This only works if:

The C-LAN board is a TN799C

“change ip-services”. Now add in the connection to the C-LAN using a port say “7000”. The remote Node should say "any".

This will allow you to connect via telnet.

Change IP services did not allow "SAT" as an entry until R9. This cannot be done in R8 or R7.
