I have configured failover using the management port. When I unplug the LAN interface the Primary goes into standby and the stanby unit goes into Primary state.
But when I plug the LAN interface on ASA1 back the Secondary stays as Active UNLESS I unplug the LAN interface o the Secondary unit. Is this normal?

This is by design. I do not know of any highly available Active/Standby pair that would do an unattended "unfail".
So the Primary unit will remain in the standby mode until you ask it to. You do not need to unplug anything to return it to the desired state.
On the standby unit:
Code:
fail act
or, on the active unit:
Code:
no fail act
You will lose connection right after that so use serial console.
