AS400 Spool File - delay in printing

We have a zebra printer, it prints out labels generated from an AS400 label softeware package perfectly and speedily. But when we release a label produced from an RPG program (Standard printer File, no special characters)to the printer there is a few minutes delay before it prints. Are there settings I need to put on the printer or the outq to speed up this print?
Your help would be appreciated.
