AS400 ODBC access

How can prevent from people with ODBC access in AS400 to UPDATE or INSERT data in the data base, We give them access to download data to EXEL and some to retrieve data with FOX, from the server, but some are installing Access DB from Microsoft and if they have access to ODBC I can’t restrict then just to read, it give access to read, write, delete.
Please if there is a way to do it I’ll be very glad if you let me know.

Well,, my first idea would be to research the security on the AS400,, restrict them to read only access for the file in question if that is possible.

Change security on each object for each user (or group profile is a better suggestion) to *USE.
