I am trying to organize my user profiles on the AS400. I want to be able to put users into certain groups. I don't want the group to have the authority, its only purpose for the group is so I can tell which department they work in.

Any help would be greate.,

Cross posting is generaly discuraged. Check your post in the RPG forum.

Do you want to track which group does what? Group profiles are valuable when setting up security, or tracking which group owns which new object that's created. This is assuming that the user profile parameter OWNER is set to *GRPPRF. Otherwise, I'm not sure why you wamt to do this.
Can you enlighten me?
