Help with Drivers

Hello there,

I have a client that is running a SQL Server 2000 and an AS400. What we are trying to do is to update a linked AS400 field through the ODBC driver. The field is packed though. The Error I get is

'ODBC - Update on linked table 'TBLNONAME' failed'
Client Access Express ODBC - Data Conversion or Date Mapping Error'

The Client Access they have loaded is ver 4 release 5.

What we need to do is to send data back to the AS400 from a VB program that ultilizes the ODBC drives.

An Ideas or suggestions?

A fairly simple approach is to create a logical file on the AS/400 that redefines the packed decimal fields (as unpacked numeric) that you are trying to update. Then, have SQL Server update the logical.
