AS2K closes after job starts

OK.... after spending the last day and a half trying to figure out an ec=5 message, (check the SHARE permissions as I find on this fantastic forum) I now have a different problem. I have scheduled, and I believe started, a full network back up. As the job started AS2K closed. I can open it up and look at anything else(device manager etc...) but not job status. I click on job status and AS2K closes again.
I am starting to wonder if a Big Chief Tablet and a No. 2 would be less headache! LOL
 
Do you get a Dr Watson log or anything in the Windows Event Log?
 
The Big Chief is one solution, but you'll need a teepee full of number two pencils to write down all of those zeros and ones.
Have you applied the service packs for Arcserve 2000?
They are not optional.
The service packs are tricky, because it is not an automatic one-shot install, you must install service packs from the main installer for each agent and component you are using. Oh, and don't forget the post-service pack patches.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for the replies. I have no entries in the logs for AS2K. I have loaded spak 2 for both AS2K as well as the tape library option. Last night after my post I did find an old post with the same problem. As per the post I deleted the .job files and recreated the jobs and all seems fine today. However I would like to be able to get a handle on what caused the thing to bomb in the first place. I have downloaded the docs that Mr. Ames suggested, hopefully they will shed some light.
