as2000 merge error: W3855 unable to position media

Hello,

Please help!! I am running win2k server and Arcserve 2000 advanced edition with sp3 installed, the tape drive is a Seagate STT20000A (firmware version 8A51). Everytime I try to run a merge job, I recieve the error W3855- Unable to position media , followed by the error W3844 unable to position media catalog file. I do not recieve any errors during the backup, and I can also restore from the tape, using the restore by media option, with a filter, so I don't think anything is wrong with the data on the tape. Does anyone have this problem or have any suggestions on how to fix this?

This seems to be a hardware problem. The only other thing could be that the NT drivers might be loaded. Make sure they are unloaded!!!

Also, check all typical SCSI troubleshooting..

It is a Hardware problem. U a ADAPTEC SCSI card.
