As I am A Noretel switching User , And now start using NEC SV9500 ..
need explanation what is the term TELN ( Telephone Number ) stand for ... why we need it since we have Station number .
and is it necessary to assign it for each station ??
and if there is a nortel / Avaya technichal ...can he point what is similar there ???

A TEL Number can be used in case different PBX's in a Fusion network have conflicting numbering plans.

If 2 PBXs have an extension 1000 then you could assign extension 1000 in PBX A a TELN of 2000 and extension 1000 in PBX B a TELN of 3000.

It can get confusing so most people try to assign the TELN and Station number the same.

Mostly, it has to be assigned in a Fusion network to route the call to a different node.
